Notable Numbers – February 2024

Applications Down 2% 

Year-over-year Applications are down 2%, but we continue to see strength in Preschool Applications. Preschool Applications are up 5%, but Lower School (K-5), Middle School (6-8), and Upper School (9-12) Applications are down 2-3%

Yield is Stable

Yield remains largely flat. Preschool, Lower School (K-5), and Middle School (6-8) Yields are up about 1%, and Upper School (9-12) Yield is down 3%. 

Enrollment is Stable

Total Enrollment is flat, with Lower School (K-5) and Upper School (9-12) slightly up (.4%) and Middle School (6-8) slightly down (-.3%). Preschool enrollment, however, continues to show strong growth, increasing 5% year-over-year. (Since Preschool tends to be the smallest division, its strong growth doesn’t move the total enrollment needle much.)

Attrition Continues to Decline

Attrition decreased 4% year-over-year, however discrepancies among the divisions remain. Lower School (K-5) and Middle School (6-8) attrition increased 4% and 3% respectively, while Upper School (9-12) decreased 8%, and the Preschool decreased 28%.

% Students of Color Increases 3%

The percentage of Students of Color increased 3% year-over-year and now stands at a median of 36% of total school enrollment. Black/African American, Hispanic/Latinx, and Asian percentages increased 4-5% while Middle Eastern decreased 5%.
